How to Choose a Dumpster Rental Company in Austin

Renting a roll-off dumpster should be simple: you pick a size, we drop it off, you fill it, we haul it away. Where people get burned is in the details — the wrong size, surprise fees, or items the company won’t take. Here’s what to check before you book any dumpster rental in Austin.

1. Get the size right the first time

Roll-off dumpsters are measured in cubic yards. Too small and you’ll pay for a second haul; too big and you’re paying for air. As a rough guide:

• 10 yard (about 4 pickup loads): garage or attic cleanouts, a small bathroom remodel
• 20 yard (about 6 pickup loads): whole-home cleanouts, flooring, kitchen remodels
• 30 yard (about 9 pickup loads): major renovations, new construction
• 40 yard (about 12 pickup loads): large commercial jobs and big demolition cleanup

2. Ask exactly what the price includes

A low advertised price doesn’t mean much if delivery, pickup, dump fees or weight are extra. Ask every company the same questions:

• Are delivery and pickup included?
• Are landfill and dump fees included?
• How much weight is included, and what does each extra ton cost?
• How many days can I keep it?

3. Know what can’t go in

No dumpster company can take hazardous waste. That generally includes:

• Paint, solvents, oils and fuel
• Chemicals, pesticides and pool chemicals
• Batteries and propane tanks
• Medical waste
• Tires and appliances containing Freon may carry extra fees or need separate disposal

If you’re not sure about an item, call before you toss it. It’s much easier than sorting it back out of a full dumpster.

4. Pick a company that answers the phone

Schedules change on job sites. You want a local company that picks up when you call, delivers when they say they will, and swaps or hauls your dumpster without a week-long wait. Check recent Google reviews for mentions of on-time delivery and clear pricing.
